Trekking

Although 90% of tourist arrivals fall under cultural tours, Bhutan provides ample opportunities in adventure tourism. Bhutan is relatively untouched by time and there is a lack of knowledge on the adventure tourism avenues.

Until the 1960s and before the construction of the first road in Bhutan, traveling was only possible on foot along the ancient trails and trade routes. It is only a few decades since the first motorised transport arrived in Bhutan, and to many of the population this is the first generation to witness motor vehicles in their country.

Trekking in Bhutan takes you along these ancient trails taking you through the remotest of villages and highest of the Himalayan Mountains. This makes it, altogether, a different experience. With our trained and experienced crew member we give in our best to make your trek as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible.

For the ones pumped up for extreme adventure, there is the famous and equally challenging Snowman trek. Snowman Trek is said to be the hardest trek in the world. This is not for the faint hearted as one has to traverse through 12 snow covered passes reaching as high as 5,300 meters above sea level and camp at high altitudes ranging between 3,700 and 5,100 meters.

GENERAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Almost all of our trekking routes pass through picturesque farmland, forests, alpine pastures and very high passes, offering superb views of Bhutan’s most impressive and mostly unclimbed peaks.
  • Our itineraries are all designed based on firsthand experiences which serve to ensure minimal logistical problems and the best ambience in terms of acclimatization, safety and total satisfaction.
  • All trekking arrangements including permits and fees, tents, TMC guide, pack animals, cooks and financial protection insurance with International Passenger Protection will be duly taken care of by us.
  • All passengers booking with Pema Cholling Tours & Treks are fully protected for the initial deposit and subsequently the balance of all monies paid to us, including repatriation if required, arising from cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to any mishaps or lapses on our part.
  • Our itineraries allow optimum time for acclimatization as well and in the event of local conditions and other factors beyond our control requiring changes in the itinerary, the trek leader will do everything possible to work out the changes to the itinerary in order to minimize your inconvenience.
